Codes and conventions:
· The trailer starts with a typical bunch of American college students partying and having fun in there sorority house!
· We can clearly see from watching the trailer that SEX=DEATH as the girls act very promiscuous!
· The group of teens cover all stereotypes form the Virgin to the jock.
· Bad will always come back to haunt you.
Moment of equilibrium:
The period of equilibrium is when we witness the students partying and having fun and doing things we usually associate with college and teenagers, this is at the beginning of the trailer when things don’t seem like a horror.
The period of disequilibrium is when The girl that was pretending to be dead is killed by her boyfriend out of his aggression and despair that she had died, this is when the prank turns serious and we know at this point that all their life’s are in danger.
Sounds and editing:
Throughout the complete trailer the is a lot of non digetic sounds and music, at the beginning of the movie there is upbeat music where as past the moment of disequilibrium the music changes to a very jumpy beat as well as loud. During the moment of equilibrium there is a lot of quick cuts between shots with the use of tone cards and some fade to blacks, after the disequilibrium there is still a lot of quick cuts and fade to blacks.
